Machines are bad in sports and life for that matter. If you are sitting on your butt or laying flat on your back you lost, so why do we insist on exercising that way? Life moves so we better learn to exercise that way. Try performing your current exercise routine standing.
    • Public Safety Fitness
In the profession of public safety, Fire-Police-EMS, there lies a strange disparity between fitness/ wellness and proactive injury prevention. • Not All Personal Trainers Are Created Equal
In the medical / scientific world we test and evaluate. If we can not test all we are doing is guessing, I personally do not like to guess, and I would assume that you would rather not pay for a guess. The unfortunate fact is that most 'professional' trainers never test, they sure get you money in a hurry though!

Perspective

Working in EMS part time and having a career in Sports Medicine / Athletic Training full time has allowed me a unique look at our profession from both the inside out and the outside in.

The decision to write this book has been and continues to be fueled by the friends I have made over the years while responding to calls. Over the past 8 years of running calls as a Paramedic I have witnessed some amazing things and worked with some really unique partners. I have had the privilege of meeting some great police/fire/medics over the years. Sharing in the stress, fear and emotion of the situations we found ourselves in the bonds formed and friendships forged under pressure will last forever.

Being around this diverse group of professionals has allowed me to see a great variety of ‘issues’ with people in public safety.  When I speak of ‘issues’ I am referring of course to issues with health, wellness, nutrition, stress and exercise.  I could no longer sit quietly aside while watching co-workers bodies deteriorate and fail from lack of care, improper exercise and over / under use.

Throughout my career I have had countless Officers, Fire Fighters and Medics come to me  for advice and guidance.  Unfortunately by the time many of them contacted me their bodies were already damaged. Make no mistake about it …your chosen profession is hard on your body.  The program contained within “The Fit Responder” is specifically designed to correct and balance the physical manifestations of your job. I dispel many of the fitness, wellness and nutritional myths that prevail in our culture and give you clear and simple instructions on how to easily integrate a complete strength and conditioning and wellness plan into your daily life.

Wellness is a lifestyle. My goal is to help you become self-informed on your own health…to help you differentiate gimmicks and fads from sound scientifically based methods… to answer questions and provide information that will help empower you to make positive changes from within.

Be Safe
